We have an extra large haul from several recent trips to book shops. Oh how I love books, and yes, I love buying them. I love our local library and we support it often but buying books, well, it is a weakness the whole family shares. We've been reading quite a few graphic novels this week after a trip to the Silver Snail. I haven't included Andy's books in the list below, there's too much for this post.
This week the 8 yr-old has been reading:
The Stickman Odyssey by Christopher Ford
Moomins (book 7) by Lars Jansson
The Secret of Stone Frog by David Nytra
The 6 yr-old has been reading:
Stella Batts by Courtney Sheinmel
Colors by Pantone, actually we are all enjoying this one.
Who wants to be a Poodle, I don't by Lauren Child
Pippi Moves In by Astrid Lindgren and Ingrid Vang Nyman. We have the chapter books but bought this for the adorable illustrations. So cute.
I've been reading:
Spilling the Beans by Julie Van Rosendaal and Sue Duncan
The Art of the Personal Letter by Margaret Shepherd
The Little Paris Kitchen by Rachel Khoo, watch her lovely mini videos here.
Homemade Winter by Yvette Van Boven
Curse of the Wolf Girl by Martin Millar. I haven't begun this one yet but I did like the first book so I am hopeful.
Real Fast Desserts by Nigel Slater. OK so this book is so great, it is kind of the reason for this whole post. It is such a sit down with a cup of tea on a grey old day and think about food kind of book. There are no pictures and it has ideas more than recipes. Last night, inspired by this book, we had apple slices and a bowl of warm caramel to dip them in. My son is still talking about that dessert, "Remember when we had those apples and caramel." Uhh, yeah you mean the ones we had about 10 hours ago, I think I can remember them.
