This quilt (that Essie spied in the last post) was made for my friend, Diane, from some of her old Marimekko clothes. Diane has some fabulous clothes and some fabulous stories that go with them. She has lived a life and been well dressed for it every day. See the green and white stripes...those used to be a pair of trousers that she wore to a notorious French prison with Michel Foucault. That kind of thing. She is a wonderful person with so many great stories to tell I thought this quilt should be a tribute to her and to them.
So this got bundled off to her last weekend (minus the hairy legs) and she was fairly delighted with it.
I used the stacked coins pattern from Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts. Can you believe that is the first time I've ever followed a quilt pattern? And it was great. Get this...someone does all the math for you!! I don't know that I'm fully converted to become a pattern quilter but I think this one maybe next on the list.
